Me sew? Why not!

I have made the decision that I am going to become a sewer! I am really quite excited! I've never really had a real hobby before! So before I go out and buy the best sewing machine on the market, I will borrow my friend Bec's machine and see if this sewing caper is actually as good as I think it will be. The reason why I have picked sewing is all the beautiful handmade kids clothes and accessories that you can make! And there is some really beautiful fabric you can buy fairly cheaply!! So here goes..........

Daddy moments

Dave is the chief bather in this house! Just about every night of Owen's life he has made it home in time to bath Owen and give him his bedtime bottle. Every night, after Owen drinks his milk, Owen will lie in Dave's arms and stare into his eyes! It is a very beautiful moment between father and son!

A new sand pit!

An early Christmas present! Owen loves it! And so does his little mates!! The other little boy is Theo! His mum is Bec. We lived nextdoor to each other for 6 months. But more on Bec and Theo later!

Crawling capers!

This morning Owen and I met up with Julia and Zara at Crawling Capers! It was a whole lot of fun! Lots of cool equipment to play with. However Owen was not in the best of moods and preferred to crawl into the plastic tunnel and stay there! He is not into big crowds of babies!!
This is the gorgeous Zara

Mothers Group

Our mothers group meets regularly and it is always so nice to see how the bubs are growing and have a good ol' chin wag at the same time. I am glad I joined a new mothers group when I moved to Brisbane as it helps so much to feel a sort of belonging. It is always nice to be able to talk baby without the fear of boring someone to death!
Some of us have even started playing netball together, but that is worthy of a post on its own and when I can sneak some photos of the action when they are not looking!

This photo was taken when the bubs were about 4 months (I think)

Same day
And a few of the bubs today (I'll need to get another group shot done!)

She's home!

My very good friend Clare has finally come home after a trip of a life time! Clare and her boyfriend, Ben travelled to many wonderful places!!! I am so jealous! This is their travel route taken from Clare's blog!

10 months and 2 days and CRAWLING...not that I was counting...

Well it is official my son has started crawling. From about 7 months I'd been saying "Oh he is close..." Well it is a bit of a pain really. I've had to hide the bin, I had to jump out of the shower 5 times to see where he had gone and he has a good size bruise on his head from hitting his head on the tiles....all that in 1 hour of 'proper' crawling'. Hummmm

Aww sore head :(

Morning at the fair

Today we headed to a school fair. We meet up with Shael, Michael and Riley. I meet Shael through mothers group and now that she is back at work I don't get to see her much, so it's nice to catch up!

Afternoon at the pool

As the title suggests! We had a lot of fun! Owen loves the water and we do structured swimming lessons once a week but thought it was time to just have some fun!

Owen Isaac - The Boat -

When Owen was born my Dad thought his name was a good name for a boat! He drew Owen a picture of a boat that was named after him - The Owen Isaac - I thought that was very sweet! He even framed it and everything! I think it will be something for Owen to keep forever! Anyway Dad bought a little boat, earlier this year and actually named it - The Owen Isaac - How lovely. I don't have a picture of the actual boat but here's a picture of the drawing my Dad did...

Owen's first birthday prep

I am not having a huge bash for Owen's first birthday but just a little party on our patio. The theme is blue and white and I have already got most of the decorations but this morning I had a go at tissue paper pompoms! With success! So we will have half a dozenish blue and white tissue paper pompoms,  a blue and white checked bunting, balloons, streamers and matching table decorations! I am very excited about it! Not only is it a celebration of Owen's first year, but also a celebration of me surviving!! It was certainly a hard slog at the beginning, but like everyone said it gets better!! And it does...I love being Owen's mum! (Luckily for him!)

The vegetable garden

So I am not a gardener. Not even close. I kill most green things. However I decided now that we live in an actual house I should grow the obligatory vege patch! So here it is when we first put it in about a month ago...

This is it now...all still alive and growing!

Owen Isaac

Owen is our son! He was born on the 23rd of December 2009 after a fairly speedy labor of 3.5 hours (Still bloody hurt like hell!) He weighed 3.66 kgs (8lb 1oz) and was 50 cm long. He looked and still does, just like his daddy! We love him to bits! Here are a few photos of his first 10 months!

Time travel

Ok it is hard to pick a start point...
I met Dave, my husband, while studying at university in Newcastle in 2001. We graduated in 2004 and both got jobs. Dave was working for an engineering company in Newcastle, whilst I was appointed to a public school in Ryde, Sydney.

We were engaged in 2007

Travelled to Thailand

Married in Oct 2008 at Coffs Harbour

and had our first baby, Owen Issac, in December 2009 and moved to Brisbane.

So there you have the "life" milestones that happened pre blogging!
